What is a day master?

In the Chinese Four Pillars (BaZi), your birth is written as four pairs of characters for the year, month, day and hour. The heavenly stem of the day pillar is the day master: the character that stands for you. There are ten, one for each element in a yin and a yang form.

How do I find my day master?

It is computed from your birth date against the Chinese sexagenary calendar; the hour pillar also needs your birth time. revolutionary.life casts all four pillars from the same birth data it uses for the Western chart, so you get both readings from one entry.

Is Yang Metal a strong or weak day master?

Strength is not a property of the day master alone; it depends on the month you were born in and how many characters in the chart support Metal. The app computes the element balance and tells you which way yours leans.

How the other elements treat Metal

In the Four Pillars every other character in your chart is read by its relationship to the day master. The five relationships are the grammar of the whole system.

Companion. The same element as you: peers, siblings, competition and self-reliance; more of you, for better and worse.
Resource. The element that feeds you: learning, support, mothers and mentors, rest; nourishing, and in excess it makes you passive.
Output. What you produce: expression, creativity, children, talent and performance; what you put into the world.
Wealth. What you control: money, assets, results, and for men the partner; ambition and the effort it takes.
Power. What controls you: authority, career, discipline, pressure, and for women the partner; status earned under constraint.

Yang Metal with each Sun sign

Western astrology reads the Sun's sign; the Four Pillars read the day you were born. The two rarely say the same thing, and the pairing is where the reading gets specific.
